Blue Brain is the technology to create a synthetic brain, which will exactly work like a normal human brain. IBM does this research in the collaboration with EPFL in Lausanne in Switzerland. The blue brain is named with the colour blue because of the virtual brain functions based on the supercomputer “BLUE GENE”. This technology uses nanobot to meet the functions of the human brain. It is a reverse engineering mechanism or in other words, we can say it is a synthetic memory storage device.
Blue Brain performs various functions such as:
• Decision making
• Giving response
When we compare natural brain with blue brain terms of input, then natural neurons are present in the natural brain but in blue brain silicon chip or artificial neutrons are present. Now when we talk about interpretation then the interpretation is done by different states of the neuron with the brain in the natural brain but in the blur, brain interpretation is done by a set of bits in the set of registers. Output comes through natural neutrons in case of the normal brain but in the blue brain, output comes through a silicon chip.
In the natural brain, processing is done through arithmetic operations and logical calculations but in blue brain processing, is done through arithmetic operations and logical calculations provided artificial intelligence.
A nanobot is considered as the heart of the blue brain. The architecture of Nanobot includes the mechanical arm, rotor, sensors, micro-cameras, payloads, capacitors.
There are various advantages of a blue brain like remember things without any effort, making a decision without the presence of a person, to understand the activity of animals, using the intelligence of a person after death and many more. However, every new technology with some advantages comes with the disadvantage as well similarly blue brain has also got some disadvantages such as human cloning, costly procedure of regaining memory back, others may use technical knowledge and can misuse it.
